Bowmanville man charged with fraud in Fenelon Falls

KAWARTHA LAKES-A Bowmanville man is facing charges after alleged fraudulent use of a credit card in Fenelon Falls.

Police say on August 16, 2019 a business in the Fenelon Falls area contacted the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) when it was suspected that a purchase involved the fraudulent use of a credit card.

Officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment responded to the call and the ensuing investigation confirmed that the credit card being used in two transactions at the business was being done without the card holders’ knowledge according to police.

As a result of the investigation Shaoib Sheikh, 31 years of age, of Bowmanville, was arrested and charged with the Criminal Code offences of fraud, over $5 000 and fail to comply with probation order.
