Omemee man facing charges after child allegedly hit with a belt

KAWARTHA LAKES-Police say a 35-year-old Omemee man has been arrested and charged with assault with a weapon following an investigation.

According to police in late June of 2019 officers received information that between early June of 2018 and early June of 2019 the accused struck the victim, a child, with a weapon (belt). The accused and victim are related.

On July 31, 2019 the accused attended the Peterborough Police Station where, as a result of the investigation, he was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon.

In order to protect the identity of the victim in this incident the name of the accused will not be released.
