Summer is a popular time for homeowners to go away for a few days and police say it’s also when thieves are likely to attend your property while your home is unoccupied.

Here are a few simple steps can help you to protect your home and your property while you are away:

  • Coordinate a friend or neighbour who you trust to check on your home and watch for suspicious activity
  • Arrange for your mail to be picked up or held until you return
  • Set your interior or exterior lights to a timer
  • Don’t invite thieves by posting on social media that you are away from home
