Rosedale to get enhanced new entrance sign

KAWARTHA LAKES-“Rosedale-gateway to Balsam Lake” is what the new sign will say.

The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) has been working with Residents of Rosedale (RoR), a local community group, as well as members of Council and municipal staff to design an enhanced entrance sign for the community. At Tuesday’s Council meeting, the design concept for the new sign was approved and the MTO will be installing the sign.

“Having worked with the residents of Rosedale on this project over the past few years, we are excited for them to see their vision for their community coming to life,” stated Councillor Elmslie.

The MTO is responsible for signage on provincial highways. The sign will be installed on the north and south entrances to Rosedale along Highway 35. The proposed sign is an enhanced entrance sign for the community featuring the name “Rosedale”, the wording “gateway to Balsam Lake” and an image of a rose. The sign will be owned and maintained by the MTO. There are no financial or operational impacts for Kawartha Lakes regarding the new boundary sign.

“Congratulations to the Residents of Rosedale for your success in spearheading this signature project, working together with many levels of government,” stated Councillor Seymour-Fagan. “Our new sign will stand as a reminder that we are proud of Rosedale as a community of Kawartha Lakes and welcome all who visit.”

The community of Rosedale is located in between Balsam Lake and Cameron Lake, just north of Fenelon Falls. Rosedale Lock 35, located on the Trent-Severn Waterway, is a popular spot to watch the boats travel by and to enjoy the beautiful scenery.
