Car drives into Courtice Community Centre Pool

DURHAM-The investigation continues after a female motorist drove a vehicle into the Courtice Community Centre building and into a swimming pool.

Police were called to the community centre on Courtice Road this morning at about 8:40 a.m. after reports a vehicle had driven into the building and ended up in the children’s pool.

Officers arrived and located a small red vehicle in the children’s pool. Officers and EMS assisted in removing the 36-year-old female from the vehicle; she was the lone occupant and wasn’t hurt. No one else was in the pool at the time. It’s believed this incident was mental health related. The building sustained extensive damage.

Anyone with information about this incident or witnessed this collision is asked to call Cst. Sikma at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 1687.Anonymous information can be sent to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 and tipsters may be eligible for a $2,000 cash reward.
