PETERBOROUGH-A man was airlifted to a Toronto Trauma Centre after an ATV crash in Curve Lake on Saturday.
Police say at approximately 8:41 am members of the Anishinabek Police Service – Curve Lake detachment and the Peterborough County OPP were dispatched to a report of an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) crash on Murrayville Road, Curve Lake First Nation. The lone ATV with two occupants struck a tree off the roadway after the male driver lost control on the icy road conditions.
The male driver sustained life threatening injuries and was treated at the scene and transported to a Peterborough area hospital by Peterborough City and County Paramedic Services. He and was later airlifted by ORNGE to a Toronto area trauma hospital for treatment while the female passenger sustained only minor injuries.
Investigators are citing that alcohol consumption may be a contributing factor in the crash and neither occupant of the ATV was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash according to police.
