Local man facing charges after being stopped at RIDE check

KAWARTHA LAKES-A local male faces several driving related offences after entering a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program.

Police say on January 2, 2019 officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP established a RIDE program on Pontypool Road near Fee Road. As a vehicle entered the check point area, an officer allegedly noted that the vehicles validation tag was expired.

Further investigation resulted in the driver, Robert Tressider, 39 years of age, being charged with the following offences:

  • Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act (HTA)
  • Driving while under suspension, contrary to the HTA
  • Fail to have insurance card, contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act
