Bobcaygeon man facing a number of charges after being pulled over for improper muffler

KAWARTHA LAKES-A recent vehicle stop conducted by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) resulted in a local man facing multiple charges.

Police say an officer from the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP stopped a vehicle on Sturgeon Road after observing what appeared to be an improper muffler. The subsequent investigation led to the driver, Danny Nugent, 50 years of age, of Bobcaygeon, being charged with the following offences:

    • Improper muffler, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act (HTA)
    • Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle, contrary to the HTA
    • Driving while under suspension, contrary to the HTA
    • Fail to surrender insurance card, contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act
