Public information meeting set for commercial development on Highway 35 in Lindsay

KAWARTHA LAKES-After years of speculation the public could finally get a look at what is planned for the land on Highway 35 North of Colborne Street in Lindsay.

Craft Developments has announced a Public Information Open House for Wednesday December 12th. They say the purpose of the meeting is to answer questions from the public and collect public input on the proposed development.

The plans show a large commercial retail space on the corner and it is planned for phase one. For at least 20 years there’s been talk of a Walmart coming to this location but that has never come to fruition. Residents could find out next Wednesday if that will finally move forward.

In June 2017 the City and Developers announced a large retial anchor tenant would be coming to the development. At the time there was speculation that Walmart was the “anchor tenant”  but no one would confirm.”At this particular time, we are not in a position yet to divulge that information but we are aggressively working with a large format tenant.” said Carmine Nigro, Craft Development Group.

Craft Development Group has worked with Loblaws, Shoppers Drug Mart and Walmart in the past. The retail space will be approximately 100,000 square feet and is projected to cost 150-200 million dollars and another 35 to 40 million in infrastructure upgrades.
