More than 16,000 homes without power

KAWARTHA LAKES-Hydro one says 16,100 homes are without power in the region tonight citing high winds in the area. Although no high winds were reported locally.

The outage effects a large area including parts of Kawartha Lakes, Peterborough, Lakefield and Buckhorn.

Hydro One says the cause was under investigation and later blamed a problem with the transmission lines. The estimated restoration time is 11pm.
