Poster and letter writing contest launched for Family Doctor Appreciation Week

KAWARTHA LAKES-Do you have a budding artist or author in the family? Now’s the time for them to hone their skills.

The Kawartha Lakes Health Care Initiative (KLHCI) is looking to students from Grades K-6 to draw a picture or write a letter to their family doctor to show their appreciation.

The ninth annual Family Doctor Appreciation Week, being held June 4 – 8, 2018 and will honour the many family doctors practicing in the City of Kawartha Lakes. “Family doctors are essential to the health and vitality of our community and we hope that all citizens will take the time to extend their gratitude for the day-to-day and lifelong commitments that these doctors make.” said Cindy Snider in a press release from KLHCI.

In particular officials want to hear who is your doctor, what makes them special to you? Why would you like to thank your family doctor?  All entries will be judged in two categories: Grades K-2 and Grades 3-6. First place winners in the poster contest from each category will have their artwork published in local news outlets and receive a prize. First place winners in the letter writing contest from each category will have their letters pre-recorded and aired on 91.9 BOB FM throughout the week of June 4 – 8 and receive a prize.

The rules are available by contacting the KLHCI office at 705-328-6098, on the KLHCI website at www.KawarthaLakesDoctors.org, or can be picked up at any City of Kawartha Lakes Library Branch.

All entries must be received by Friday, April 27, 2018.
