KAWARTHA LAKES-A Peterborough man was chased down by citizens after he allegedly stole a woman’s purse during the noon hour on Tuesday in Lindsay.
Police got the call after staff at a Russell Street grocery store say they observed a man take a woman’s purse and then run from the store. Staff members took up the chase, caught up with the man and apprehended him as police arrived on scene. The man was chased from the grocery store to near Kent Street West and Sussex Street before he was apprehended. After arresting the man, it was learned that he was also wanted on other outstanding criminal charges. The man was detained in custody pending a Bail Hearing.
21-year-old Jacob Bryans was charged with Theft Under $5000.00 and three counts of Failing to Comply with a Recognizance. He was also wanted on outstanding charges of Theft Under $5000.00, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000.00, Possession of Proceeds of Crime Under $5000.00, Assault with a Weapon and Break and Enter.
