Lindsay man facing charges after being accused of sexually assaulting his girlfriend

KAWARTHA LAKES-Kawartha Lakes Police are reminding residents that “no means no” even when it comes to sex and your significant other.

A 27-year-old Lindsay man has been charged with sexual assault and several other criminal offences after being accused of forcing his girlfriend to have sex with him on the weekend.

Kawartha Lakes Police were contacted at 12:30 pm on Sunday, December 10th, 2017 by a woman who reported that her boyfriend had sexually assaulted her earlier in the day. Investigation indicated that the couple had been involved in a relationship for just about three months. On Saturday, December 9th, 2017 the couple allegedly began to argue, which resulted in the man leaving for a period of time and returning later in the day. The man spent the night at the woman’s home and then allegedly forced her to have sexual intercourse with him early Sunday morning. The couple continued to argue, and the man left the home again. The woman contacted the police to report the sexual assault.

The man was arrested later in the day and was held for a Bail Hearing. He will attend at the Lindsay, Ontario Court of Justice for a Bail Hearing on Monday, December 11th, 2017 charged with Sexual Assault, Failing to Comply with a Recognizance and Failing to Comply with a Probation Order. The name of the man is being withheld to protect the privacy of the woman.
