UPDATE: Charges Laid-One man dead and another in custody after fire in Fenelon Falls

KAWARTHA LAKES-The City of Kawartha Lakes OPP Crime Unit have charged a man in connection with a fatal fire in Fenelon Falls on Saturday night. 

45-year old Gregory Livingstone of Fenelon Falls has been arrested and formally charged with:

Arson – Disregard for Human Life contrary to section 433(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC)
First Degree Murder contrary to section 235(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC)

December 10, 2017- An elderly man has died after fire engulfed a home in Fenelon Falls Saturday night.

Fire crews, paramedics and police were called to the scene on Oak Street at about 9:30 pm after a report of a fully engulfed residential structure fire at the home.

Police say upon extinguishing the fire, ‎the lifeless body of an elderly male was located in the home.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation and police at the scene are being assisted by investigators from the Office of the Fire Marshal (OFM).

Late last night, a male was taken into custody in regards to this ongoing investigation ‎which is being conducted by detectives from the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP Crime Unit, under the direction of Detective Inspector Dave Robinson of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB).

Police say further details will be provided as they become available, however at the present time, the OPP do not believe that there is any risk to public safety.
