KAWARTHA LAKES- The City of Kawartha Lakes has announced the hiring of Cathie Ritchie to the role of City Clerk effective November 20. Fomer Clerk Judy Currins retired on August 31, 2017.
“Cathie brings a wealth of knowledge and many years of municipal experience to this position,” said Chief Administrative Officer Ron Taylor. “Cathie’s depth of experience at both the upper and lower tiers of municipal government will be an asset to us. As a resident of our community, she’s already well aware of key issues, such as the changes to our ward system and the composition of Council effective for the next election. I’m very pleased to welcome her to the Kawartha Lakes staff team.”
Ritchie’s current role is Manager of Legislative Services/Clerk at Northumberland County. Prior to that she held the position of Director of Clerks Services/Clerk for Lanark County. Her experience is complimented by diplomas in Municipal Administration, Finance and Law, as well as her Association of Municipal Clerks and Treasurers designation.
“My career in municipal government dates back to 1985 and I’ve always had a Clerk component to my work. Lindsay has been my home for the last 3 years and I have fond childhood memories of vacationing in Kawartha Lakes. It’s very meaningful to be able to contribute to your own community through your professional contributions, and I look forward to getting started later this month,” remarked Ritchie.
