KAWARTHA LAKES-The Humane society of Kawartha Lakes is asking for the public’s help in finding someone they believe deliberately drowned a cat.
Donna Neale, an investigator with the society, says the cat was found in Sturgeon Lake, off County Road 24, near Bobcaygeon on Sunday. At first she was thinking the death was an accident. ” I was kind of hoping someone lost if off the back of their boat and was frantically looking for it.” Neale told Kawartha 411. “But the way it was done was deliberate.”
Deliberate because the cat was found submerged in the water, in a pet carrier with a large rock in it. “A gentleman was getting water for his cattle when he pulled it out and that’s what he found” Neale says.
The rock was wrapped in paper towel. “This is so inhumane, it’s so cruel it’s beyond words,” Neale says
The cat is described as an older male, medium haired, black and white. Neal sent Kawartha 411 a photo of the carrier the cat was found in hoping that someone will recognize it.
