Severe thunderstorm watch issued for Kawartha Lakes

KAWARTHA LAKES- Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Kawartha lakes.

They say conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.

Scattered thunderstorms are forming across portions of Eastern Ontario in response to an approaching disturbance. Isolated severe thunderstorms are possible this afternoon into this evening. Brief wind gusts to 90 km/h, 2 centimetre hail and heavy downpours are the main concerns with these thunderstorms.

Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!
