PETERBOROUGH-A 22-year-old Peterborough man is facing several charges including resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer following an incident outside a Sherbrooke Street store.
Police say at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Monday the victim, a man in his 30’s went to a store on Sherbrooke Street in Peterborough. As he was walking up to the store it was reported that the accused demanded the victim make a purchase for him. When the victim refused the accused allegedly struck the victim in the face several times before fleeing the area on foot.
A pedestrian in the area observed the incident and called police. The victim was treated on scene by EMS.
Officers located the accused in the King Street Parkade a short time later. Police say when they attempted to place the accused under arrest he resisted, threatened an officer and assaulted an officer.
22 year old Jack Robert Monine of no fixed address, Peterborough has been charged with assault peace officer, resist peace officer, assault, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and fail to comply with a probation order.
An officer was allegedly assaulted on July 7th as well. Police say they were alerted by several citizens about an intoxicated male at the rear of a Charlotte Street residence. Officers located the intoxicated male who they say was on court ordered conditions including not buying, possessing or consuming alcohol.
35 year old Jonathon Yvon Gauthier, of no fixed address, Peterborough, was arrested and charged with failing to comply with a probation order X2. While at the police station an officer was allegedly assaulted. The accused was then charged with assault a peace officer as well.
