A car stolen in Peterborough was recovered by Toronto Police after the suspect was arrested on another incident.
Police say on Wednesday just before 9pm a driver parked his vehicle on George Street south of Hunter Street. He says he left his vehicle running while he went into a local business to make a delivery and when he came back out his car was gone.
On May 4 the Peterborough Police Service was notified by the Toronto Police Service that they had recovered the stolen vehicle in the Toronto area and had arrested the male suspect on another matter and released him from their custody.
The suspect returned to the Peterborough area where he was arrested at a Towerhill Road address by Peterborough Police.
22 year old Mohamed Duad Omar of Towerhill Road, is charged with theft of motor vehicle and failing to comply with a probation order.
He was also charged with mischief under $5,000 for damage caused to the cell area at the police station.
