UPDATE: Emergency Response team on scene of investigation in Peterborough

UPDATE: A Toronto man has been charged.

Peterborough Police closed roads in the area of Water Street, North of McDonnel Street overnight to execute a search warrant.

Police say Shortly after midnight they executed a warrant at a Water Street residence regarding a weapons offence. The Emergency Response Team and K9 Unit were deployed as part of the investigation and to help secure the area.

As a result of the investigation two people were initially arrested. One person was released unconditionally while the other was charged.

Jordan Pereira, 25, of Toronto, is charged with obstruct police. He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in a Peterborough court on May 25, 2017.

Roads in the area will be re-opening soon according to police.
