ONTARIO-Orillia OPP officers have laid charges related to an investigation at multiple hospitals throughout the region: Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital [April 2025 – March 2026, (OSMH)], Headwaters Health Care Centre [August 2026 – September 2026, (Orangeville, ON.)], Trillium Health Partners [August 2025 – July 2026, (Mississauga Hospital)], St. Joseph’s Health Centre [July 2024 – January 2025, (Toronto, ON.)], and West Park Health Care Centre [February 2024 – April 2024, (Toronto, ON.)].
Police say the investigation was prompted by several complaints of theft and fraud from patients and staff within the hospital. Multiple search warrants were executed where significant amounts of property were seized.
As a result of the investigation a 34-year-old female from Burlington, has been charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with:
· Fraud under $5000, 34 counts
· Theft under $5000, 13 counts
· Disobeying a Court Order, 7 counts
· Criminal Breach of Trust, 4 counts
· Fraud over $5000, 2 counts
· Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, 2 counts
· Theft over $5000
· Personation with intent
The investigation remains ongoing and is being conducted by the Orillia OPP Major Crime Unit.
Police believe there may be additional victims who were patients, Visitors and Staff Members in various units of these hospitals. Investigators are asking any individuals who attended these medical facilities during the above timeframes to check their financial records for any unauthorized transactions. To report any fraudulent transactions or thefts of cash to the Orillia OPP Major Crime Unit at 1‑888‑310‑1122 referencing the occurrence number E250834926.
