HAVELOCK-A Havelock man has been charged with impaired after police responded to a call for a vehicle in the ditch.
On Tuesday September 22, 2026, shortly after 9:30pm, officers from the Peterborough County OPP were dispatched to a report of a vehicle that had gone into the ditch on Belmont Township 6th Line. While speaking with the driver, officers believed the driver to be under the influence of alcohol and an arrest was made. The driver was transported to the Peterborough County OPP detachment for further testing where samples of their breath returned readings more than twice the legal limit according to police.
A 37-year-old from Havelock, ON., was arrested and charged with;
• Operation while impaired
• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
• Careless driving
• Having care or control of a motor vehicle with liquor readily available
The accused is to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on November 3, 2026, in Peterborough.
The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90-days, and their vehicle impounded for seven days.
