Two Vehicle Crash In Carden Township Results In Impaired Driving Charges

KAWARTHA LAKES-A reported collision on Brechin Road in Carden Township led to an individual being arrested for impaired driving.

On Sunday September 6, 2026, at approximately 8:00pm, officers were sent to a collision on Brechin Road. Upon arrival, officers found Fire already on scene and attending to involved parties in the first vehicle. Police say while officers were speaking with the driver of one of the vehicles, the officer determined them to be under the influence of alcohol. A demand for the Approved Screening Device (ASD) was made and the results of the test led to the arrest of the driver.

A 22-year-old from Tottenham, ON., was arrested and charged with operation while impaired  and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date. The driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and the motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

The OPP reminds motorists to plan ahead when consuming alcohol or drugs. Use a designated driver, cab, public transit, or stay overnight. Any amount of alcohol or drugs can impact your ability to make sound judgements.
