KAWARTHA LAKES -The City of Kawartha Lakes OPP officers have laid multiple impaired driving charges following separate incidents on July 17, 2026.
On July 17, 2026, at approximately 12:47 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop for a Highway Traffic Act offence on Highway 35. Through investigation, the driver was arrested and charged with impaired driving-related offences.
A 23-year-old of Scarborough, was charged with Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs.
Later that day, at approximately 10:35 p.m., officers responded to reports of a motor vehicle performing burnouts in the area of Killarney Bay Road. Officers attended and located the driver. As a result of the investigation, impaired driving charges were laid.
A 28-year-old of Fenelon Falls, was charged with:
· Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
· Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit
· Drive motor vehicle, fail to display two plates
Both accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date. Both drivers received an immediate 90-day driver’s licence suspension and a 7-day vehicle impoundment.
