KAWARTHA LAKES-Hydro crews continue to restore power following severe thunderstorms that blew through the area on Canada Day.

According to Hydro One, in the Central region there are 25,000 customers out right now. Towns in the Kawartha area that have ongoing outages include Fenelon Falls (among one of the hardest hit areas) which has 7,800 customers out, Minden has 119 customers out and Peterborough has just over 5K customers out.

Downed trees/tree limbs have caused significant damage, bringing down power lines and breaking poles and cross arms.

Hydro Officials say contractors and other utilities are supporting our restoration where possible and they are also moving crews from other parts of the province to support hardest hit areas.

Hydro One customers can report an outage or view get their latest estimated time of restoration by text (WATTS) or online through our outage map or app. Find more information about our outage tools at Outage Tools | Hydro One.
