KAWARTHA LAKES-Round Up Days are returning this summer to help residents safely recycle and dispose of household items.
Round Up Days are special community events where people can drop off items that are not usually picked up at the curb. It’s a simple and free way to recycle or safely get rid of waste without making a trip to the landfill.
All events take place from 8am to 12pm at the following locations:
Saturday, June 20 – Carden
Carden Recreation Centre, 258 Lake Dalrymple Rd, Sebright
Saturday, July 25 – Manvers
Rolling Hills Public School, 694 ON-7A, Bethany
Saturday, August 15 – Bobcaygeon
Bobcaygeon Public School, 30 Balaclava St, Bobcaygeon
Saturday, August 29 – Coboconk
Coboconk Roads Depot, 2863 CKL #48, Coboconk
All materials are accepted free of charge.
Residents can drop off:
Household Hazardous Waste
Examples include:
- batteries
- personal care products
- household cleaners
- paint and solvents
- pesticides and fertilizers
- automotive products
- empty tanks and containers
- products containing mercury
Bulky Plastics
Examples include:
- recycling bins and garbage cans
- plastic lawn furniture
- milk crates, totes and clean buckets
Not accepted:
- toys
- pool covers
- pipes
- vinyl siding
- dock barrels
Electronics
Examples include:
- computers and printers
- TVs and gaming systems
- CDs and DVDs
- cell phones, telephones and cameras
- small appliances
- power tools
Not accepted:
- fridges and freezers (or any appliances with refrigerant)
- air conditioners and dehumidifiers
- vacuums and oscillating fans
- VHS or cassette tapes
Textiles
At this time, textiles can only be recycled at our June 20 (Carden) Round Up Day. For updates on accepting textiles at future Round Up Day events, check the Round-up Days page before you head to an event.
Examples include:
- clothing and shoes
- bedding and blankets
- towels and curtains
- pillows and sleeping bags
- purses, hats and scarves
- stuffed toys and fabric
Ripped or stained textiles will still be accepted for recycling.
