Two Ennismore Residents Charged After Shooting At Apartment Complex In Elliot Lake

KAWARTHA LAKES-Two Ennismore residents have been charged after a shooting at apartment complex.

On April 16, 2026, the East Algoma OPP was called related to shots fired on Willoughby Road in Elliot Lake. Numerous residents reported hearing gun shots fired outside the building. Police arrived immediately to secure the scene and ensure public safety. In doing so, two people were arrested outside and two people remained outstanding.

On April 29, 2026, the OPP’s Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) squad arrested one person in Toronto.

A 27-years-old, from Ennismore, was charged with:

• Attempt to commit murder using a restricted firearm or prohibited firearm

• Discharge a firearm into or at a place in a reckless manner

• Careless use of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition

• Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order – four counts

• Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm

• Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose

• Discharge air gun or pistol with intent – endanger life

• Assault

• Assault with a weapon

On May 11, 2026, police arrested one person at the Kawartha Lakes OPP Detachment.

A 19-years-old, from Ennismore, was charged with:

• Discharge a firearm into or at a place in a reckless manner

• Careless use of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition

• Assault

• Assault with a weapon

• Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order – two counts

• Fail to comply with Probation Order

Both accused persons were remanded into custody after bail hearings.

The OPP’s Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU) Emergency Response Team (ERT), Canine Unit, East Algoma Crime Unit, and Bail Support Team assisted with the investigation.
