The Volunteer Firefighter Recruitment Application for the Spring 2026 Recruitment Class is now open! Residents are invited to step forward and serve their community in a meaningful and rewarding way.

Volunteer firefighting is a unique opportunity to gain life-saving skills, build lasting connections and help keep Kawartha Lakes safe.

Volunteer firefighters respond to emergencies including fires, medical calls and rescue situations, while also supporting public education and fire prevention initiatives.

Successful applicants will join a highly trained and supportive team, gaining valuable skills through hands-on experience and ongoing training. Volunteer firefighting offers opportunities to build confidence, learn new skills and give back locally.

They are recruiting for all 19 fire stations across the municipality.

• In order to be considered, your permanent residence must be within 15 kilometres of the nearest fire station.
• Only apply to the fire station closest to your permanent residence.
