NORTHUMBERLAND-Quinte West OPP has laid charges in an impaired driving investigation.
On Saturday, April 25, 2026, at approximately 10:20 p.m., a traffic complaint on Boulton Road, led officers to suspect a motorist may have been impaired.
The driver was arrested and transported to the Quinte West Detachment, where charges were laid.
As a result of the investigation, charges were laid under the Criminal Code (CC), Liquor Licence and Control Act (LLCA) and Off-Road Vehicles Act (ORVA).
A 54-year-old from Quinte West, was charged with the following offences:
- Operation while prohibited
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Having care or control of a motor vehicle with liquor readily available
- Drive off-road vehicle – no insurance
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on June 11, 2026. Additionally, the vehicle was impounded for 45 days, and their licence suspended for 90 days.
