KAWARTHA LAKES-“This is a postcard that is actually coloured in, because there was no colour photography back then. The store on the right is the Dan Cain Store, which burned in 1913, so the picture that was used to make the postcard was taken before that. The flume that you see on the right (behind the horse and wagon) supplied water to the grist mill. The grist mill was run by the difference in the water level from above the locks and below the locks.”
