KAWARTHA LAKES-The City of Kawartha Lakes OPP is investigating a serious single motor vehicle collision that took place around 8:16 a.m. on April 16, 2026.
Police, along with fire and EMS were dispatched to a collision in the area of Ranch Road and Valentia Road, Mariposa Township. The collision remains under investigation, the driver, a 25-year-old of Peterborough was transported to a local area hospital and then transported to a Toronto Area trauma centre with believed life altering injuries.
The Ministry of Environment was contacted due to the vehicle leaving the roadway and entering a body of water in the area. There is no concern for public safety. The roadway in the area remained closed for a significant amount of time but has since been reopened.
