PETERBOROUGH COUNTY-Peterborough County OPP officers recently charged four Norwood residents with after various separate incidents to start off April.
On Wednesday April 1, 2026, at approximately 7:00pm, an officer from the Peterborough County OPP detachment was sent to a Fail to Remain collision on Dummer-Asphodel Road in Douro-Dummer Township. The caller stated that an individual crashed their vehicle and was then picked up in a different vehicle. Officers were able to identify the suspected driver and attended a residence in Norwood to speak with them. While speaking with the driver, officers determined them to be impaired and they were arrested according to police. The individual was taken to the Peterborough County OPP detachment for further tests but failed to provide the required samples. While at the detachment, the accused activated an alarm system which led to a further charge according to police.
Raymond Bradley (age 39) of Norwood, ON., was arrested and charged with;
• Operation while impaired
• Failure or refusal to comply with demand
• Mischief
• Fail to remain
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on June 2, 2026.

On Wednesday April 8, 2026, prior to 2:30pm, officers were conducting a R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program at an off-ramp from Highway 115. A vehicle approached the officers, and an officer spoke with the driver. The officer made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath into an Approved Screening Device (ASD) which registered a ‘Fail’ according to police. The driver was arrested and transported to the Peterborough County OPP detachment for further testing where police say the results were more than twice the legal limit.
Patrick Morrissey-Blackhurst (age 26) of Norwood, ON., was arrested and charged with;
• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on May 12, 2026.

On Saturday April 11, 2026, shortly after 1:30am, a Peterborough County OPP officer was travelling eastbound on Highway 7 in Otonabee-South Monaghan Township. The officer noticed a vehicle at a rate of speed higher than the posted limit. The officer initiated a traffic stop by activating their emergency lights. As the vehicle pulled over, the officer reported a beverage container being thrown from the vehicle. The driver was arrested and transported to the Peterborough County OPP detachment for further testing.
Thomas Brown (age 43) of Norwood, ON., was arrested and charged with;
• Operation while impaired
• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
• Speeding
• Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available
• Litter highway
• Possess more than one licence
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on May 19, 2026.

On Sunday April 12, 2026, shortly after 2:00am, a Peterborough County OPP officer was traveling on Highway 7 westbound towards Peterborough. The officer, as they approached Highway 7/115 intersection, observed a vehicle facing the wrong direction at the intersection and proceeded to initiate a traffic stop. The officer made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath into an ASD. Police say the driver failed to provide a sample of their breath and as a result was arrested.
Jenny Chen (age 35) of Scarborough, ON., was arrested and charged with;
• Failure or refusal to comply with demand
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on June 9, 2026.

On Sunday April 12, 2026, at approximately 3:30am, Peterborough County OPP officers were dispatched to a report of a single-vehicle collision on Division Road in the Township of Douro-Dummer. Officers arrived on scene, locating the vehicle but there were no occupants with the vehicle according to police. Attempts were made to contact the registered owner without success. Police say a short while later, an individual matching the description of the driver was observed running into the woods. A K-9 officer attended the location and after a short track, the individual was located a short distance to where they were initially observed.
Zakary Doherty (age 29) of Norwood, ON., was arrested and charged with;
• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
• Fail to report accident
• Fail to remain
• Fail to report damage to property on highway
• No mudguards
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on May 19, 2026.
