KAWARTHA LAKES-Police say impaired driving remains one of the leading causes of death and serious injury on OPP‑patrolled highways. Officers across the municipality remain committed to detecting and removing drivers impaired by alcohol, drugs, or a combination of both.
On Sunday, March 29, 2026, at approximately 10:40 p.m., officers responded to a traffic complaint on West Street in Bobcaygeon. Officers attended the area and located the vehicle. Through investigation officers charged a driver with impaired driving offences.
31-year-old Candice Hill of Bobcaygeon, was charged with:
–Â Â Â Â Â Â Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
–Â Â Â Â Â Â Careless Driving
–Â Â Â Â Â Â Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
On Saturday, March 28, 2026, at approximately 5:02 p.m., officers responded to a traffic complaint on Colborne Street in Fenelon Falls. Police located the vehicle and through investigation officers charged a driver with impaired driving offences.
63-year-old Sandra Cubello of Fenelon Township, was charged with:
–Â Â Â Â Â Â Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
–Â Â Â Â Â Â Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
Both drivers were given a seven‑day vehicle impoundment, a 90‑day driver’s licence suspension, and a future court date.
