Woman Wanted In Connection With Murder Located During Routine Traffic Stop In Peterborough

PETERBOROUGH-A traffic stop in Peterborough on Friday afternoon resulted in two people being arrested – one for accessory after the fact to murder and a second person wanted on five warrants for theft and failing to comply with probation.

At approximately 12:15pm on March 27, 2026, officers with the Community F.I.R.S.T Unit conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the Rubidge Street and Townsend Street area.

A 27-year-old Peterborough man was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with having tint that obscured the interior of the vehicle.

Police say during the stop, a male and female passenger were identified and both determined to be wanted.

1. Accessory after the Fact to Murder Arrest

A 26-year-old Peterborough woman wanted in connection with being an accessory after the fact to murder was located during a traffic stop and arrested.

At approximately 12:15pm on March 27, 2026, officers with the Community F.I.R.S.T Unit conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the Rubidge Street and Townsend Street area. During the stop, it was determined that a female passenger was wanted in connection with being an accessory after the fact to a homicide in December 2025. She was taken into custody without incident.

As a result, 26-year-old Tatum Haines of Peterborough was arrested and charged with:

  • Accessory After the Fact to Murder

The accused was held in custody and appeared in Weekend and Statutory Holiday (WASH) court on Saturday, March 28, 2026.  At that time, the accused was remanded into custody.
