KAWARTHA LAKES-A Lindsay woman accused of stealing 10,000 percocet pills from the pharmacy she worked at has had one charged dropped and plead guilt to another.
24-year-old Karlie Adams was charged in November 2024 with theft Under $5000 and Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Opioid (other than heroin).
On October 28th, 2024 Kawartha Lakes Police Service was contacted by the owner of a pharmacy regarding possible internal thefts of prescription narcotics. Police said further investigation which included CCTV footage resulted in the arrest of an employee from the pharmacy.
On December 5, 2025 Adams plead guilty to theft under $5000 and the charge of possession for the purpose of trafficking was dropped. She was given a discharge which is a non-conviction, penalty-free finding of guilt.
We reached out to the Crown Attorney for comment.
“The Court found that the Crown could not prove that Ms. Adams was responsible for the 10 000+ pills that went missing.” said the Crown in a statement to Kawartha 411. “52 pills were found on her person at the time of her arrest, an amount consistent with personal use. She entered a plea to theft on that basis and was referred to the Community Support Court. The Crown sought a 90 day Conditional Sentence Order, while Defence asked for an absolute discharge. The court imposed a discharge.”
