Numerous Charges Laid After Allegedly Intoxicated Man Drives To Police Station

QUINTE WEST-Quinte West OPP has laid multiple charges after an allegedly intoxicated man drove to the Quinte West Detachment, regarding an incident that he had reported 30 minutes earlier.

On Saturday, March 21, 2026, at approximately 6:45 p.m., officers responded to a complaint made by an intoxicated individual, concerning a potential injury caused earlier that evening.  Police say while officers were investigating the complaint, the individual drove themselves to the Quinte West Detachment where they committed further offences.

The individual was arrested with multiple charges being laid.

39-year-old Lance Hurley from Quinte West, was charged with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand
  • Indecent Act – public place
  • Assault a Peace Officer
  • Breach of Recognizance

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on May 7, 2026. Additionally, the vehicle was impounded for seven days, and their licence suspended for 90 days.
