Haliburton Highlands OPP Thanks Public For Kindness Following Recent Collision

HALIBURTON HIGHLANDS-Haliburton Highlands OPP is thanking the public for kindness shown following a recent collision.

On March 17th, 2026, officers responded to reports of a collision involving a tractor trailer and a passenger vehicle. One person was transported to hospital with non-life threatening or life-altering injuries. The OPP was on scene for several hours.

While on scene, officers say they were blown away by the support and kindness of many community members.

“In the time it took emergency responders to arrive, community members worked together to ensure public safety on a particularly difficult stretch of roadway. Another young community member came out to the scene to offer a hot meal to the involved drivers. The Dysart Fire Department and local paramedic services also assisted during a particularly challenging day in the county. Thank you to everyone who contributes to road safety in our communities.” said the OPP.

As a result of the collision, the driver of the transport truck was charged with an offence under the Highway Traffic Act. No name was released.
