BANCROFT-Members of the Bancroft OPP have arrested two people after a disturbance call.
On Thursday, January 22, 2026, shortly after 4:00 p.m., officers were called to a disturbance in the town of Bancroft.
On Sunday, January 25, 2026, an arrest warrant was obtained. Officers attended a residence in the Town of Bancroft, and the accused was arrested following a brief struggle according to police. Officers also seized a quantity of illegal drugs.
A 37-year-old woman from Bancroft has been charged with the following:
·        Assault
·        Failure to comply with a release order – 2 counts
·        Trafficking in Schedule I substance
·        Resist Peace Officer
A 64-year-old man was also charged with obstruct peace officer.
The female was remanded into custody following a bail hearing and was scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on January 27, 2026.
The male was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bancroft on March 3, 2026.
The woman was additionally charged with possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking and failing to comply with a release order after more illegal drugs were located in the individual’s possession according to police.
No names were released.
