BANCROFT-The Bancroft OPP has arrested one person and laid multiple charges after a breach of probation.
On Sunday, January 25, 2026, an individual suspected of breaching release conditions, was spotted in the Town of Bancroft. They were arrested and a search resulted in the discovery of suspected methamphetamine and suspected fentanyl according to police.
As a result, Heidi Brethour, 45, of Bancroft has been charged with the following:
·        Fail to Comply with a probation order – 3 counts
·        Fail to comply with a release order – 5 counts
·        Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – two counts
·        Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
The accused was held for bail and remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on January 27, 2026.
Brethour was previously charged with attempted murder following an assault in 2023.
