KAWARTHA LAKES-On this day in 1914, Ella Moore Heyslop enrolled in the Ross Memorial Hospital Training School for Nurses. According to the hospital’s Annual Report that year, 28 births were recorded, and 399 patients were admitted—167 men and 232 women. In that same year, the hospital also received a significant gift: the $25,000 estate of its Founder, James Ross.
