KAWARTHA LAKES-Charges have been laid after the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP placed Fenelon Falls Secondary School in a hold and secure following an emergency call for service. Initially police said the school was placed on lockdown but they have since corrected that to a hold and secure.
At approximately 9:38 am on Tuesday September 16, officers received a call for service regarding a group of teenagers walking towards Fenelon Falls Secondary School one carrying what was believed to be a pipe bomb or large firework. Officers responded and quickly located the person in question. Fenelon Falls Secondary School was in a hold and secure for just under 15 minutes. The youth cannot be named under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA) but was charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with:
- Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Public Mischief
The accused was released and will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date.
