Speed Enforcement Snags Ammunition And Fake ID

NORTHUMBERLAND-A 37-year-old man is facing charges after being stopped during a speed enforcement operation.

On July 22, 2025, at approximately 1:00 p.m., police were officers conducting speed enforcement on County Road 25 stopped a vehicle travelling at 106 km/h in an 80 km/h zone. Police say the driver provided false identity details and was taken into custody. A search revealed approximately 30 rounds of rifle ammunition.

Patrick Jensen of no fixed address, has been charged with:

  • Operation while prohibited
  • Public mischief
  • Personation with intent to avoid arrest, prosecution or obstruct justice (Identity fraud)
  • Transport firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner
  • Possession of prohibited device or ammunition
  • Suspended driving – four counts
  • Fail to apply for permit on becoming owner
  • Operate motor vehicle without insurance
  • Use of plates not authorized
  • Speeding

The vehicle was impounded for 45 days. The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in August.

The OPP reminds all motorists that providing false information during a traffic stop is a criminal offence and can lead to serious consequences. Additionally, transporting ammunition carelessly poses risks to public safety and will be dealt with accordingly.
