Driver Reportedly Three Times Over The Legal Limit Facing Impaired Driving Charges

PETERBOROUGH-Officers from the Peterborough County OPP have charged an individual with impaired driving in Havelock-Belmont-Methuen Township.

On July 16, 2025, just after 1:00pm, police received a call advising of a person who had been located at the side of the road laying next to a vehicle. Officers, along with EMS were dispatched to the location on Belmont 7th Line. Upon speaking with the individual officers conducted a breath test and say it returned readings over three times the legal limit.

39-year-old Mark Austerberry of Norwood, ON., was arrested and charged with;

·      Operation while impaired

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90-days, and their vehicle impounded for seven days and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on August 26, 2025.
