NORTHUMBERLAND-A 19-year-old man is facing charges after a single vehicle crash.
On June 19, 2025, shortly before 3:00 a.m., Northumberland OPP responded to a report of a collision on Trent Valley Drive. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the Township of Cramahe Fire Department also attended the scene.
The vehicle was located on its roof and off the roadway according to police. Officers initiated an impaired driving investigation. The sole occupant was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
As a result, Owen Turner (19) from the Municipality of Brighton has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Failure or refusal to comply with demand
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in July.
In addition to the court date, a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment were initiated under statute.
“The Northumberland OPP would like to remind the public that failing to provide a suitable sample of breath or blood upon an officers demand, carries the same consequences as ‘Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs’, and ‘Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)’.” said police.

Whether you are impaired by alcohol or drugs, impaired is impaired and driving under the influence of either is a criminal offence. If you plan on drinking or consuming drugs, plan to not drive. Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi or public transit, or come up with another plan that takes impaired driving out of the picture.
