Suspicious Drone Activity Near Warkworth Institution Results In Charges

NORTHUMBERLAND-The Northumberland OPP has laid charges following a report of suspicious persons.

On June 6, 2025, at around 12:45 p.m., officers responded to a report from Warkworth Institution regarding drone activity in the area. Details were also provided relating to a vehicle being driven in a field off County Road 30 in the Municipality of Trent Hills.

Officers patrolled the area and located the vehicle matching the description provided. The two occupants of the stationary vehicle were taken into custody and evidence relating to the drone was seized according to police.

As a result, 21-year-old Avinash Singh from North York, has been charged with:

–      Mischief – obstructs, interrupts or interferes with the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property.

A 17-year-old male, also from North York, has been charged with:

–      Mischief – obstructs, interrupts or interferes with the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property.

The individual shall not be named under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).

Both accused as due to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a future date.
