Automated Licence Plate Reader Locates Alleged Prohibited Driver

PETERBOROUGH COUNTY-A Peterborough County OPP officer was conducting patrol on Ottawa Street in Havelock on May 27 when he received a notification from the Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system within his cruiser indicating an issue with the licence plate attached to a passing vehicle. The officer conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle and through investigation it was determined the driver was prohibited from operating a motor vehicle according to police.

31-year-old Jhonathan Germond of Peterborough, Ontario was arrested and charged with:

·      Operation while Prohibited under the Criminal Code

·      Fail to Comply with Probation Order

·      Driving while under Suspension

·      Use plate not authorized for vehicle

·      Fail to surrender insurance card

The accused had their vehicle impounded for 45 days and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on July 7, 2025.
