OPP Reminding Residents About Rules For ATV’s On Local Roads

KAWARTHA LAKES-The OPP is reminding residents about the rules of the road for ATV’s following incidents in Pontypool.

Police say under the Off-Road Vehicles Act, ATVs, dirt bikes, and similar vehicles are NOT permitted on public roads unless the roadway is specifically designated by the municipality  marked with a yellow sign featuring an ATV symbol.

Dirt bikes are not permitted on any roadway within the City of Kawartha Lakes under any circumstance.

Violations can result in:

Fines or charges under the Off-Road Vehicles Act

Charges under the Trespass to Property Act

According to police, if you are a youth, your parents or guardians can be charged for your actions.

Please ride responsibly and respect the law to keep our community safe.
