Charges Laid In Online Gambling Investigation

ONTARIO-The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Investigation and Enforcement Bureau (IEB) has laid charges in connection with alleged illegal activity on an online gaming site.

On September 30, 2024, the IEB, attached to the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO), was contacted by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) regarding allegations of illegal activity impacting their online gaming site, OLG.ca.

As a result of the investigation, Dawit Atsebiha, age 20 of London, was charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

• Unauthorized use of computer, s. 342.1(1)(a)

• Mischief to data, s.430(1.1)(a)

• Use forged document, s.368(1)(a)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in London on May 5, 2025.
