Inmates At Warkworth Institution Charged In Separate Incidents

NORTHUMBERLAND-The Northumberland OPP has laid charged following separate incidents at Warkworth Institution.

Police say on February 27, 2025, police received a report regarding indecent acts where an inmate was believed to have exposed himself while in a public area at the facility earlier in the month.

As a result of the investigation, OPP arrested a 57-year-old male, from Niagara Falls on March 27, 2025. The individual was charged with:

–      Indecent Act

The accused was held for bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.

On March 27, 2025, OPP arrested two individuals after an investigation into an assault which occurred at the facility on December 7, 2024. As a result of the incident, the victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries according to police.

Following almost a four month investigation, officers took two inmates into custody. A 29-year-old male and a 27-year-old male, both from the Municipality of Brighton, have each been charged with:

–      Assault causing bodily harm.

Both were held for bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.
