Impaired Driving Charges Laid After Vehicle Hits Tree

NORTHUMBERLAND-The Northumberland OPP has charged an individual with impaired operation following a collision.

On March 26, 2025, at around 10:45 a.m., officers responded to a report of a single vehicle collision in the area of Division Street in Roseneath.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the Fire Department also responded to the incident along with police.

Police say a vehicle had hit a tree and upon speaking with the driver, police entered and  the result of ‘FAIL’ with the driver taken into custody and transported to a local detachment for further tests. F

44-year-old Nigel King from the Township of Alnwick/Haldimand, has been charged with:

–      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

–      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

–      Driving while under suspension

–      Operate motor vehicle without insurance

–      Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero

–      Fail to remain

–      Use plate not authorized for vehicle

–      Fail to notify change of address

–      Fail to apply for permit on becoming owner.

In addition to a future court date for the accused, a further 90-day Administrative Driver Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impound was initiated as per statute.
